Deputies say a Springfield woman exposed her breasts to a man in his 90s and slept in his bed to play off his need for female affection to steal more than $25,000 and a car from him. She has been charged with financial exploitation of an elderly person.

Melva Bozman, 45, also faces felony charges of trafficking in stolen identities and receiving stolen property. She claimed to be the man's housekeeper, persuaded him to give her at least $25,000, gifts and pay attorney fees of more than $2,000, according to Greene County court documents.

The man's son told an investigator with the Greene County Sheriff's Office that his father was vulnerable because of his age, dementia and the death of his wife, according to a probable cause statement filed in the case.

The man told an investigator that Bozman exposed her breasts and other body parts to him, slept in the same bed and tried to initiate other sexual involvement with him, according to the court records. Bozman also told the man that she loved him and wanted to marry him, deputies say.

She also talked the man into buying a new $30,000 car even though the man is not allowed to drive and has two working vehicles, according to court documents. The man's children reported, according to documents, that Bozman turned their father against them and appointed herself his housekeeper and caretaker even though there are no legal documents giving her any power.

Bozman allegedly told the investigator that the car was the man's gift to her and that he was a millionaire.

In February, Bozman went with the man to see his financial adviser and unsuccessfully asked that Bozman's name be put on a trust fund that contained almost $300,000 and that the son be taken off, according to court documents. She also allegedly wanted to be listed as his power of attorney and start receiving the monthly caregiver payments that his son received.

Bozman drove the man to dinner on his 94th birthday in his new $30,000 Buick LaCrosse, according to court records. He passed out in the restaurant and came to in the hospital. The man told an investigator for the sheriff's office that he believed she had poisoned him, records say.

The man, who was able to walk up until his 94th birthday, is now too weak to walk and has been put in a nursing home, according to court records.

Bozman told the investigator that she used his credit card while he was hospitalized and stole cash and lottery tickets from his wallet, according to documents. The investigator also recovered hydrocodone that had been prescribed to the man from Bozman.

The Greene County Prosecutor's Office sought and obtained a bond of $25,000 for Bozman, who was placed in the county jail.
