A Springfield man was charged Monday in connection with a 2012 case in which he is accused of inappropriate behavior with a then 11-year-old girl.

Denny R. Bonar, 38, is charged with attempted enticement of a child and sexual misconduct involving a child after police say he made a girl watch pornographic videos and lie naked on his bed.

According to a probable cause statement, the girl told authorities in August 2012 that Bonar made her undress in his bed during a game of Truth or Dare.

The girl said Bonar would frequently show her pornographic videos in his bedroom and tell the girl that his wife would not do those things for him, according to the statement.

A bond recommendation document says that when police went to contact Bonar about the allegations he hid inside the house. Police used a megaphone to talk to Bonar for about two hours before he came outside, the document says.

The statement says Bonar told police he did not watch pornographic videos with the girl or make the girl undress in front of him.

The bond document says Bonar is a prior and persistent felony offender who has attempted to escape from prison in the past.

Prosecutors have requested a warrant for Bonar's arrest. He does not have an attorney listed for this case.

Some information — such as names of victims, relationships with a defendant or locations of crimes — can be missing in News-Leader stories about sexual offenses and domestic abuse. That's due in part to a state law that redacts the identities of victims, making some information unavailable to report. The News-Leader also tries to protect victim identities, unless victims want to speak out.
