Police believe two girls who went missing from Monett last month may be in danger because they could be with Southwest Honkey gang members.

Monett Police released information earlier this week that the girls, sisters Olivia, 15, and Tori Bailey, 14, were last seen May 24 at the Monett YMCA. They were first considered runaways before new information came to light this week.

Olivia was described in a release from Monett Police as 5 feet tall, with blond hair and blue eyes. She has a faded tattoo on her left foot and the numbers "5150" tattooed on her right thigh. Tori is 4 feet 8 inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes.

Sgt. Jerry Harrison with the Monett Police Department said family members and others told police the girls could be in the El Dorado Springs area with two people associated with the Southwest Honkey gang.

"We were able to corroborate that information through other sources," Harrison said. "Everything ties together and point to the El Dorado Springs area."

Harrison said the girls are from El Dorado Springs and just recently moved to an area south of Monett.

He would not release the names of possible gang members the girls could be with, but said, "We're looking hard at two people."

A News-Leader investigation from 2014 discovered documents that showed the gang was selling methamphetamine in southwest Missouri.

Multiple documents showed members were buying methamphetamine in El Dorado Springs and transporting it to the Springfield area.

The News-Leader reported in February that the group is suspected to be unorganized. Law enforcement officials say the group started in prisons — where it is organized — but when members are released the gang's structure falls apart.

That story also showed gang members can have violent tendencies. Specifically, the last two police officers shot in Springfield were shot by members of the gang.

Harrison said Monett Police are continuing to follow leads in the El Dorado Springs area. Anyone with information is asked to call that department at 417-235-4241.
