Birbiglia is a writer and actor who has appeared in movies like "Trainwreck" and "Hot Pursuit" and TV shows including "Inside Amy Schumer" and "Orange Is The New Black."

Philip Dickey, who sings, writes and plays drums and guitar for Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, said he just got the news about the nationally distributed film Thursday.

"We're shocked, and we feel super-lucky, because we had no idea this was going to happen," he said.

Dickey said he was making lunch for his toddler-aged son, Davey, when he got a time-sensitive email.

"By the time we were eating lunch, the trailer was online."

Two of the band's songs, "Young Presidents" and "Let it Sway," are featured on both the movie soundtrack and on the trailer.

Dickey said the band is glad to be on the trailer, because more people will be able to see the trailer than buy a ticket to see the movie.

"Don't Think Twice" is set to premiere July 22. Birbiglia wrote, directed and stars in the movie, which follows the adventures of six improv comics as they audition for a "Saturday Night Live"-like TV show.

"We’re so happy about it because we're big fans of Mike Birbiglia," Dickey said. "We used to listen to his 'This American Life' podcast when we were on tour a few years ago."

The last time the Springfield band was on a soundtrack for a nationally distributed movie, it was for 2011's "Shark Night 3D," in which seven vacationing teenagers are attacked by vicious sharks in the Louisiana Gulf.

"It wasn’t a blockbuster hit — let’s just say that," Dickey said. "Or critically acclaimed."

In contrast, "Don't Think Twice" is getting good reviews, Dickey said.

"Right now, it has 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, but it only has 14 critics so far."
