A former Clever teacher is facing three felony charges following accusations that he molested a student.

Roy D. Tarvin, 39, was charged Monday with endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of sexual contact between a teacher and student after allegations recently surfaced that he molested a girl twice in 2014.

According to a probable cause statement, a student told authorities in January that Tarvin, then an agriculture teacher at Clever High School, had molested her more than a year ago.

The first incident allegedly occurred in the fall of 2014 when Tarvin was giving the girl a ride home. The statement says Tarvin stopped the car at a rural four-way stop and molested the girl.

A few weeks later, Tarvin again molested the girl, this time at a school-related event he was hosting at his home, according to the statement.

As of Tuesday morning, Tarvin had not been booked into the Christian County Jail. He does not have an attorney listed for this case.

Steve Carvajal, superintendent of the Clever School District, said school officials contacted law enforcement as soon as they became aware of the allegations.

Carvajal said Tarvin — who worked at the high school for about four years — resigned in January after the allegations were made.

The case is being investigated by the Christian County Sheriff's Office.
