Branson police say woman found dead at hotel; suspect is in custody

Branson police say a woman was found dead in a hotel room at Westwood Inn on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway on Wednesday afternoon, and a suspect has been taken into custody.

Sgt. Daniel Kingsbury said police responded to a call at Westwood Inn around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, and when they arrived on the scene, they found a deceased woman.

Kingsbury said the manner and cause of death are still under investigation, and he could not release information on whether or not it was a homicide. But Kingsbury did say one suspect has been taken into custody and he does not anticipate any more arrests in this case.

Kingsbury said he was not sure of the events leading up to the call or if Branson police had been dispatched to Westwood Inn earlier in the day.

Kingsbury said the deceased woman's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
