Police ID body found in car at Nixa Wendy's

Nixa police said Wednesday they have identified the man found dead last week inside a car in the Wendy's parking lot.

Authorities used dental records to identify the deceased as Greg Connelly, 34, from Joplin, according to a news release from the city.

Police do not suspect foul play in Connelly's death, but the cause of death is still under investigation.

On June 23, Nixa police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Wendy's on Aldersgate Drive at about 8 a.m. for reports of a deceased person in the back seat of a Chevrolet Malibu.

The car had reportedly been parked outside the restaurant for several days.

City spokeswoman Jill Finney said the body was severely decomposed, which left the person "unrecognizable."

Finney said on Wednesday that Connelly's family members had been notified about his death.
