Webster County escapee who fled jail through vent arrested in Springfield

A woman who recently escaped from the Webster County Jail by clambering through a small bathroom vent was captured in Sunday's wee hours in Springfield.

Carrie Crowe was being held in the Greene County Jail on Sunday on a $100,000 bond, according to the jail's website. She was booked into the jail around 3:30 a.m after being arrested by Springfield police.

Crowe's absence from jail was first noticed May 25, according to previous News-Leader reporting. She was able to remove a vent's metal cover, knock out a fan and climb out to freedom. 

A class C felony charge for tampering with a motor vehicle is pending against Crowe in Webster County, according to court documents.

Escaping from a county jail is a class E felony.
